The evolution of a space invade arcade game changes very little so why do they continue to make these plays? Because they are fun and you can see the improvements between the old arcade games and the present day video games. Look at Galaga and see the improvement and details in Warblade. Yes, the basic play is the same, the fun is the same but wait until you see the graphics, details and the sheer numbers of enemy aliens in Mac game Star Defender 3.

You are a rookie pilot sent to the outermost section of the galaxy known as Kenuriam. Everyone knows nothing good comes from that system. You are wary but take on this assignment for the good of planet Earth and mankind. You fight hard and furious against the Star Defender 3invading alien Insectus race with your lone ship. They come at you in different waves of every formation known in outer space. Some move horizontally and vertically, while others will loop, stall, swoop and circle around the dark, starry sky in ominous patterns. They’ve also sent their biggest and baddest bosses to wipe you and earth out of the universe and beyond. Luckily there are power-ups galore and the weapons of mass destruction are available to you if Star Defender 3 8you can catch them. They are missiles, mines, nuc bombs, 500 points, time and more to help aid you in your quest.

The game board is an overhead view of your space ship at the bottom of the screen. The never ending, spiraling enemy attackers will try to overcome your single ship and gain access to Earth. Be sure to post your highest score on the worldwide Hall of Fame.

Star Defender 3 may be similar to the old time arcade shooting games but with its fantastic graphics and more power-ups than you can imagine, the play is still intense, frantic, frenetic and just plain addictive. The only thing that will slow down your play is the hand cramps you get from shooting an infinite amount of alien devils.

Features of Star Defender 3:
-8 Huge Missions
-Progressive System of Bonuses
-Aliens to Blast

Swarm Gold Review

swarm-gold

Swarm Gold is an outerspace action shooter that puts you in the pilots seat! Take your little space ship and try to collect all the EZT coins in your sector of the galaxy. When you have collected all the blue EZTs you can go to the exit portal, which allows you to continue on to the next level. Along the way, you encounter all types of obstacles which try and stop you from completing your mission. These include asteroids (large and small) and many different alien creatures. The creates you encounter range from the small and manageable Clag Scouts to the dangerous Clag Bots. It would be wise to avoid these aliens and especially look out for the Death Worms which is the most vicious, intelligent and deadly creature in the game.

There are four different levels of difficulty in the game (Kids Mode, Normal, Hard, and Insane). After you choose your difficulty, you can proceed on your campaign and begin playing the more than 100 different levels that Swarm Gold has to offer. In addition to the multitude of levels, there are all kinds of power-ups scattered throughout the game. These include shields, free lives and of course, weapons upgrades. The initial gun that comes on your ship is useful, but is also slow and needs time to hit the targets. You can find all kinds of other guns, like assault rifles, shotguns, autoguns, flamethrowers and mines that will aid you in defending your ship. Additionally the game has a multiplayer mode that allows for up to eight players. I am not sure exactly how this works but it seems like a cool idea and definitely is something that enhances the replayability of Swarm Gold.

Personally, I really liked this game. It was a simple point and click shooter, where shift propelled you into space. This was a cool idea but one should definitely use a mouse because the pad on a keyboard is a little cumbersome. I also had some difficultly avoiding asteroids, which pop up in inconvenient places. It is nice to have some obstacles, but when I am taking more damage from inanimate objects instead of the enemies, I think something needs to be changed. Maybe it was just because I wasn’t using a mouse, but that was a big problem for me. What I did like was the blue and red cursors that pointed your ship in the correct direction. The blue cursor led my ship to the nearest EZT and eventually the exit portal. The red cursor was equally as helpful, as it pointed out an enemy that was near. Overall, this was a solid game and I would give it four out of five stars.

Features of Swarm Gold:
-Over 100 Levels
-Enemy Aliens
-Lots of Weapons

Fly away in the fast paced life of space and aliens in the intense shooter Warblades. Closely related to old arcade scrolling shooters, waves of enemies flow down the screen firing at your ship as you duck and fire while moving left and right. As levels progress, more enemies with more firearms along with more power-ups appear. Warblade takes Space Invaders also a little farther by giving the spaceship the ability to upgrade with money earned from certain dead enemies.

Warblade is a quality game with a lot of replay value. The high score system and fact that players can Warbladeset high scores with only three lives makes the craving of the game all the better. Two-player mode also makes the player feel they are back in the arcade mashing buttons with their buddy all those years ago. Warblade takes a traditional style of games and does not go off so far as to ruining it.

Personally I would give Warblade a 4.5 out of 5 stars due to appreciation of similar games and the fact that it was down right fun. Warblade is a pure arcade game that deserves praise and status as a competitor for all the past scrolling shooters that have come and gone in the video game world.

Features of Warblade:
-100 Levels
-Uncover Secrets and Bonus Games
-Use Strategy
-Beat the Bosses

Qwak is an awesome platform/puzzle action Mac game for all those old time arcade players and anyone who wants to have a good time. With myriad of upgrades, extras and baddies to beat, you can’t go wrong with playing 70 levels in 6 different worlds.

The object of Qwak is to collect gold keys to exit to the next level. Easy, huh? No way. Before you leave one level, you must collect fruits (either stationary or raining down from the top of the screen), gems, flowers (10 will get you an extra life), and more. At the end of the level the fruits convert to eggs, and you use them to shoot baddies. There are grey and purple potions and keys. The black keys open treasure chests and the gold keys open the exit gate.

There are a lot of baddies who can topple your duck over and send him to his demise. Qwak! Not only do you need to avoid the enemies, you need to make sure the duck does not get hit by a spike ball; both small and humongous. You have to time the bubbles to elevate you to higher platforms and at the same time avoiding all the bad things dropping down on your duck.

In addition to all that there are secret sections where you have to figure out how to enter this site. You may need to pull levers, collect the right keys to go through gates and in the right order. Good luck.

If all that is not enough, you can play as one player or 2. In the 2 player mode, this is the one I like, you play along side your buddy or against him and throw the eggs at him and let the baddies deal with him. Bye, bye friend.

Qwak, with its bright and cheery graphics and fun sounds, is a challenging, entertaining platform/puzzle play. You have to have quick reaction and nimble fingers in order to get through the many levels in this fast-paced Mac game, but it’s all worth it when you save the duck! Qwak!

Features of Qwak:
-70 Action-packed Levels
-6 Different Worlds
-Single Player or 2 Player Modes

luxor3

When you think it can’t get any better, they come out with Luxor 3 a match 3 or more orbs to destroy action Mac game for arcade trained gamers or anyone who wants to have fun. If you know the first two Luxors (Luxor and Luxor 2) or if you don’t, you’re going to be equally convinced that Luxor 3 is an awesome shooter game.

The play is to slide the winged shooter at the bottom of the screen from side to side shooting spheres up to the snaking rows of orbs inching its way towards the pyramid and to your demise. Every third match you’ll earn a power-up from the god of the same color. Osiris is white, Anubis black, teal Thoth, orange is Sekhmet, green Geb, Ra is red, yellow is Isis, Nut is the blue power and Horus is purple. Now we are all up on our ancient Egyptian gods. Most of the power-ups are the same as the previous games, but a purple one called Scorpion is especially impressive. It emerges from the Pyramid to destroy the nearest orb.

There are reflectors you can bounce the orbs off of to get around blocks or corners. Throughout the game you’ll see scarabs and jars you need to shoot at and catch ankh coins or when you get 4 canopic jars in a round, you get to play the bonus level. In addition to all the action you need to be quick and catch all the goodies falling down the screen. This will get you mega points and that’s what we are after.

I like Luxor 3 a lot and would recommend this fast-paced arcade play with astonishingly beautiful graphics and powerful sounds to everyone. You have to be nimble and quick with the shooter especially when playing the more difficult levels, but practice will make anyone good at this game plus you can play the easy level at first until you build up your skill. So if you are a hardcore arcade gamer, match player or beginner, try the variety of plays in this fantastic Mac game.  Who would believe #3 is this good?  I gave it a 4.5 because I know there’s room for improvement and perhaps #4?  Have a blast playing Luxor 3 for now and wait for the next generation.

Features of Luxor 3:
-7 Game Modes
-More Than 140 Levels
-Power-ups
