Mishap: An Accidental Haunting Review

It’s great when you can play a hidden object game with a creative twist. Mac game Mishap: An Accidental Haunting is just such game. It’s about a couple with ghosts in their beloved home. When they are ready to give up and abandon their house, Milton Hobblepop shows up at their doorstep.
Mr. Hobblepop does not look much like a ghostbuster (did Bill Murray?) but when you are desperate, he’ll do. He claims he is a paranormal investigator and felt strong spirit activities coming from the house. He’ll guide the couple throughout the house to exorcise the ghosts, and there are plenty of them. He needs the man and his wife to do quite a bit.
You play the couple and search the house for items he needs for his contraption, clues to the identity of the ghosts and many more things. He’ll direct you first to the bedroom area, and in each section there will be 4 hidden object scenes to search. The main area will expand the scene on both sides so remember to go to the right and left. When you move the cursor around the room, it may turn into a door. This will show you into another environment for a HOG. There will be many information you can find in each HOG scene about the main ghost from wills, letters and newspaper clippings. At the bottom left corner you will find batteries with a list of tabs and clicking on the log will open up more tabs for riddles, gadgets, ghosts, and checklist. The hint button is at the lower right corner and you can use it when the 4 light bulbs are lit. Finding an object will light a bulb and finishing a scene will refill all the lights. If you click on too many wrong items, you will get a
surprise. It is fun but may scare young kids. To get back to the main room, look for the green arrow at the bottom left above the batteries.
A main ghost will haunt the 8 different areas and there will be minor ghosts hanging around. When you see the monocle on the bottom right flashing you know there is a spirit lurking around. You click on the monocle and your cursor will change to that. When you move the mini monocle around, you will see a cold/hot gauge at the bottom. When you have located the ghost it will be red hot and you click on that area. The ghost will move from that spot and you will need to locate it 2 more times to rid the ghost. You can roam from area to area searching your hidden objects. After completing all the rooms you play a mini game.
The first game is with Barbara Taylor a once up and coming starlet. She continues to search for her elusive starring role and that’s why she is angry. The game is called Scream Queen and you click to photograph Barbara’s pitiful face for the maximum points when she pops up suddenly. However, do not click on the pretty starlet or Barbara will get mad. Also spirits will speak to living things in riddles and puzzles. At the end you will get a riddle and you must complete its instructions. After completing the first section you will move on to the
kitchen area.
What makes this hidden object game so good is a combination of things: funny story, great artwork, lots of HOGs, some mini plays, appropriate sounds and good music. This HOG is a moderately difficult play. All the objects are not always visible and with the cartoon contorted drawings you may need to search longer than you usually are used to and it is not so difficult you get frustrated. The instructions
will not hold your hands so you may need to explore and look at different things on your own. Of course, the animation is fantastic to view and well done. So get busy and rid the house of all the spirits and collect the spectral energy. I give this awesome and entertaining game a 4 out of 5.
Features of Mishap: An Accidental Haunting:
-8 Chapters and 32 HOGs
-Awesome artwork
-Fun Mini Games

Action Ball 2 Review
The title says it all. Mac arcade Action Ball 2 is filled with action packed fun in an outer space themed brick busting shooter play. It has a pinball vibe to it with the different obstacles and bumpers. There are plenty of bonuses falling down for you to collect and use.
The play is your typical breakout arcade game where your space ship moves back and forth at the bottom of the screen shooting the space aliens while breaking the bricks. The great part of this play is the bonuses. There are many to collect. Unfortunately, if you are not fast enough, they will pass you by and you will miss out on some fantastic power ups like bigger paddles in front of the ship to hit the ball back, power ball will destroy some of the obstacles that the regular orb bounced off of, the reflector will not let balls fall, and more. However not all the bonuses are good. One in particular will shrink your ball making it more difficult to hit. Not only are you trying to break up the galactic barriers, but in addition, you must destroy the robotic space vehicles flying around the zone. If you destroy 25 of these
space ships you can earn another life.
A fun mini game and a change up to the breakout plays are the shooting the bricks before they fall to the bottom and collecting the coins to add to the total score. This play will give you a break from the frenzy brick busting.
Action Ball 2 is one awesome and different game. There are breakout plays but with other types of themes like Fizzball (farm setting), Bongo Boogie (monkeys), Fairy Treasure (fantasy) and Bricks of Atlantis (underwater). All are terrific games. Action Ball 2 with an outer space theme has all the lights and whistle you want in an exciting breakout game and more. The blocks situated above your ship are similar to pinball bumps and twirling obstacles. I am a pinball player so I enjoy the similar feel to this game. The levels get increasingly challenging but you can do a do over so everything is not lost. If you are a breakout gamer, you must try this one. Get into your ship and bust those bricks and alien robots. I give Action Ball 2 a 3.5 out 5 for one fast-paced arcade brick buster.
Features of Action Ball 2:
-80 Exhilarating Levels
-30 Bonuses
-Addictive Play

Eden’s Quest-The Hunt for Akua Review
Eden’s Quest-The Hunt for Akura sounds like it would be a hidden object Mac game, but once you are in the adventure story, the HOG is secondary or minor to the many puzzles in this game.
Eden Hunt, a famous archaeologist, finds herself searching for the treasure of Akua and win $10,000,000 by doing so. This money will more than help fund her next excavation in the Andes. In order to reach her goal, she must complete challenges given by stone statues to
pass through portals to each section of the island. In addition, she has competition from other adventurers who will do anything to get the prize.
The challenges come in forms of puzzles. There are logic, math, a little hidden object, comparing items and more. When a stone idol’s eyes are green, you can click on it to take on a challenge. You will receive points for completing each puzzle correctly. However if you
need to buy a clue, you will lose some points. As the levels increase, the points increase. You need to use coins in order to be able to buy hints. In each scene, you will see occasional twinkling of light and if you click
on the right spot, you can earn a coin. Another method to get more coins is to challenge the captain to a game where you move your icons horizontally and he moves his vertically to earn points. You go back to the captain when you need help.
Going through portals will advance you to other locations of the island. When a portal is red, you cannot pass. In order to unlock a portal, you must complete the challenge issued by the totems. When you click on an orange portal, you have to solve a puzzle to pass through.
The puzzle is to get a red piece to cross over the laser beam in order for the portal to open. This puzzle is easy at first but does increase in difficulty further along the game.
After completing all the puzzles in a zone and getting enough points (if you do not have enough points, you can do catch up challenges to
get a higher score), you must complete a Tangram (pieces you collected in each scene) and place pieces on a board correctly fitting them. Pieces can be turned by clicking on them and you can change positions if you need. If this type of puzzle is not your thing, you can skip it so you can continue on your journey.
I found some of the puzzles interesting but not all. I’m not a big math word problem solver even though they are not that difficult. If you are completely stumped, buy a clue. Some of the puzzles were too easy but others were more challenging. I liked getting the red device
through the laser to enter the portal because Rush Hour is one of my favorite games. I would have liked it more if the HOGs were the main play with the other puzzles as minis. The story was interesting and involved you in the play. The artwork and music were good. I gave this Mac game a 3.0.
Features of Eden’s Hunt-The Hunt for Akua:
-More than 100 puzzles
-20 Settings
-Intriguing Story

Planet Horse Review

Mac sim/role playing game Planet Horse puts you in the rider’s seat. That is, the saddle of a champion horse. You are the horse trainer and you are out to win medals and tournaments. You must have a feel for your horse so you can get it to jump and trot. Are you up for the challenge? It wouldn’t be easy, but it will be fun.
You begin by selecting your profile and then you select your horse. You can pick out what kind of breed (7 to choose from), the way the horse looks, the gender, and the characteristics (strength, jumper, speed). You are welcomed to an exclusive horse stud farm where you were selected for your potential to train future champions.
You choose from different activities to make your horse stronger and better. Looking for pinecones will teach the horse and you where to go to collect the items for coins. The action and sounds reenact the motion and feel of riding a horse. You click on the ground in front of
the horse and drag the cursor towards your goal, pinecones. Jumping is a little harder since you have to control the speed of the horse so he/she will jump the fence. Knocking down bars will garner you a penalty. The horse is finicky and may refuse to jump. Stopping you dead in his tracks. You will be completing with other riders. In addition you must rest the horse so he doesn’t get too tired. You’ll see the carrots to the left of the screen showing if the horse needs to rest. In addition to the activities there is a shop to buy
clothes for the rider and equipment for the horse.
I’m not sure if this creative and completely different type of game is for me, but I’m almost certain young equestrians and horse lovers will enjoy this play very much. Planet Horse will duplicate as much as a Mac sim/rpg game can the experience of riding a horse with its beautiful artwork and accurate sounds. Try it out, win medals and ride through European forests and American deserts. I give it a 3 out of 5 for its original and creative game.
Features of Planet Horse:
-Creative Sim Play
-Experience Riding a Horse
-Win Medals

Leeloo’s Talent Agency Review
Another sim time management/multitasking Mac game with a twist is Leeloo’s Talent Agency. Leeloo is born into a family of actors but she went the college route studying economics. However, as stories like these always end up with some connection to the past, Leeloo uses her education by opening up a talent agency looking for actors to play different roles for movies.
The sim play is easy to pick up with the tutorial. The many characters will arrive to take a chance at acting and making it big. Above their heads will appear what they want to do. An actor may want to look at scripts so you click on him and drag him to the chair to browse
through treatments. He will ask Leeloo to come and select a script for him. You click on her to go and pick out the matching script. The role will appear at the top and the scrolling roles will appear at the bottom. You must click on the identical picture. Another person may want to go directly to the makeup table and another may want to go shoot their movie right away. After completion the actor will walk to the receptionist’s desk to sign his contract with Leeloo’s agency. The goal of the sim game is to meet the number of actors needed to cast in a movie.
The next part of the game is on the movie set where you will play a hidden object/seek and find play. Like other HOGs you will be finding
items for your inventory and with that object you may need to use it for repairing things such as finding 4 wheels and replacing it on the wagon train. The movie sets could be a western, pirate, family life or many other movie scenes.
With upgrades you buy equipment, foods or more stations to accommodate clients. There are puzzles within the sim play such as the
photo shoot you do for the actors so they will have pictures for their resume portfolios. After shooting the photos, you have to fit the correct size pictures into the page. In addition to the movie related actions you must make, you have addition duties making food for your hungry actors. You must match the correct food items to what the actor requested.
There are many different plays in Leeloo’s Talent Agency from sim to hidden object to puzzles. I like doing the different plays instead of playing a straight sim time management. It gives you time to recoup before the next one. Of course, I do prefer HOGs to sim plays and
that may be the reason I like this game better. All the games are not difficult, but will increase in tasks as you increase in the levels. The music is light and lively and the graphics good. If you are a sim or HO player, this game covers both modes with a lighthearted story of Leeloo and her talent agency.
Features of Leeloo’s Talent Agency:
-70 Levels
-Hidden Object Challenges
-7 Different Movies to Make
