Shadow Wolf Mysteries: Curse of the Full Moon Review
Is this another werewolf story? Have we had enough of this topic, vampires, and haunted mansions? No, we can’t get enough of well made Mac hidden object adventure game Shadow Wolf Mysteries: Curse of the Full Moon. As long as the game is full of puzzles, hidden objects and a good tale, we will come back for more.
This interesting game is voiced, but there are problems with the sound. There is an echo at the beginning of the game and the sound level went up and down during some of the talking but since the words are written below the speaker, you can follow along easily. Another problem with this game is when you go to get your inventory,
the menu pops up and you have to click on continue to progress in the play. This is not exclusive to this game. I’ve complained about this a lot. With that said, I’ll tell you what is good about the game.
You begin the play by choosing your skill level, either Regular or Expert. Regular has fast recharging for hint and skip buttons and has sparkles for further investigations. Expert does not show activated areas and the recharging is slower. When your cursor changes to a hand, you can pick up objects, footsteps will take you to another site and the magnifying glass will let you zoom in on an area.
You’ll be scanning each scene for objects and clues about the problem in this small town. You play as a detective called into a village that is plagued by unexplained deaths. It is rumored that a werewolf is on the prowl and the villagers are so frightened they are placing traps near their beds to keep them safe. You check in with the local Prefect Gerard to get your instructions. Your first encounter is with a little girl who lost her mother. She said something was in the house, she heard her mother scream, and now her mother is nowhere to be found. After putting the little girl to bed with a trap in front of her, you wander through the town to search for clues. You are confronted by a wolf, but it takes off before you can do anything. The strange thing is there are paw prints near the second story window. Wolves can’t climb sides of buildings, right? In order to clear matters, you continue out of the town towards a circus that is advertising a fortuneteller and her wolf.
While you are moving forward in this game, you must complete tasks and solve puzzles to gain access to doors, cabinets, gates and more. These mini games are your standard games in the guise of clocks and gears to open gates and collect inventory needed to complete other tasks. Hidden Object games will show sparkles if you play the Regular mode. Once you click on that area, you’ll discover items scattered about with the list of items you need to find at the bottom of the screen. The items written in yellow will need to be interacted before you can click on the object.
The main play is the point and click game with some HOGs and puzzles to solve. There are some bloody scenes but on the most part not real scary for adults. Kids should be old enough to deal with game deaths to play this. The tale will keep your interest with some animated shots at the start of the game and throughout the story. As I mentioned before there’s a voice problem but I’m sure the developers will fix that right away. The artwork is fantastic and the music is eerie. I give this game a 3.5 out 5 for a good tale, puzzles and fun.
Features of Shadow Wolf Mysteries: Curse of the Full Moon:
-Adventure Tale about a Werewolf
-Hidden Object and Mini Puzzles
-Great Artwork and Music

Magic Stones Review
Magic Stones is a well planned and thought out RPG and card Mac game. The mixture of this game makes it unique from straight RPG games. It is based on Celtic mythology that in itself is captivating and intriguing.
This game is set in Avavorn, the land of many druids. There are hidden treasures in the unlikeliest places like abandoned temples, enchanted forests, cursed islands. These valuables can be anything from magic formulas, amulets to runes. Each object will increase your druid’s power and experience.
To start the play you must select your druid and its own unique characteristics. This part is important later in your dueling matches. You will need wisdom, strategy, artifacts and magic in order to succeed in your battles. There are many options to choose from and if you choose wisely, it can make a difference in each outcome of this game. If you experiment a little with the features, you’ll be able to figure out the most appropriate one for your druid. It’s to the developers’ credit they include a female druid to choose from and that she is equal to the male.
There are 3 modes of play in this Mac game. The first is the Gather Artifacts section where you search for the artifacts in the different areas of the land: Frozen Lands, Slimy Swamp, Green Plains and Lava Mountains. This is the mode to build your druid’s character, experience and gather artifacts. The second mode is the most interesting one called the Challenge Druid. This section may be the most action-packed part of the game. In this section the druid must fight other druids in the Black Tower to the death. Quest the third mode is a new section. You play a custom story with new avatars. There is a quest released every 3-4 months for free to registered users. A big plus and a great savings for Mac gamers.
Magic Stones is not your typical RPG game because of the card game aspect. It changes the play somewhat from your usual role playing moves with more strategizing than movement. However, I think diehard RPGers will be able to play this game and enjoy it. Casual gamers will be able to pick it up from the excellent step-by-step tutorial at the beginning of the story. I was muddling through some of the confusing parts of the card game, and the help came on to address my mistake. The hint made a big difference in the play.
The imaginative features of Magic Stones with its detailed artwork and the creative druids were all well done. The sound effects and music were appropriate for the game, but some of the moans were disturbing. I didn’t feel the story drew me into the game as some other RPGs, but that can just be me. I’m not a big RPG or a card player. All in all it was a good experience, and I’m glad I ventured into the world of Magic Stones and would probably try more of their games.
Features of Magic Stones:
-3 Modes of Play
-20 Different Avatars
-17 Spells
-Over 15 Enemy Druids

Twisted Lands: Insomniac Collector’s Edition Review

Lobotomy! Did that quack/monster doctor say lobotomy? Hey, what the heck!?! He strapped leather restraints around your ankles. No time to dillydally, you have to get out of that insane asylum before it’s too late in Mac point and click adventure sequel Twisted Lands: Insomniac Collector’s Edition.
Choose from Regular or Expert mode: Regular mode has sparkles for zooming in on a hidden object games and areas of interest with faster hint and skip buttons. However, I found the skip button took a lot longer than most other games. I’d hate to find out how long the Expert mode takes. The mirror to the bottom right is the hint button if you need it to find hidden objects. The HOGs are clear and items are fairly easy to spot. The many puzzles throughout the game are from fair to easy but you can skip them if you wish. The games are balanced with the story progressing with animations to keep your interest high. This is similar to their first game Shadow Town.
The tale continues from when Mark and Angel on a treasure hunting expedition get their small vessel overturned and both end up in the water. Shadow Town takes Mark’s point of view and after being washed up onto a small deserted island, he goes looking for both treasure and Angel. In the sequel Insomniac you are Angel trying to escape an asylum and some quack doctor wanting to perform surgery on your groggy brain because you are a danger to society. Huh? What happened?
You figure out how to get out of your straps and manage to explore your area and hightail it out through the vents, but only to be caught by Dr. Torpse who injects you with some meds. Even though you are medicated you go from being in the hospital to a deserted town filled with debris and many, many locked areas. It’s difficult to decipher which world is the hallucination and which one is real. You drift between the 2 playing and solving puzzles to further your quest for survival and escape.
Along the way you find newspaper clippings explaining some unusual circumstances. There are a variety of puzzles, hidden object games that you will visit 2 times (this helps expand the game), point and click adventure and animation to tell the story and increase the spooky factor. It’s not real scary but it has an eerie feel to the game. The music also helps the creepy component. I think this sequel is a bit better than the first game. Although some of the puzzles are similar, the creepy factor is much better in this second game. You also sympathize with Angel and not so much
with Mark. The idea of using the point of view of Angel is good, going back and forth from one world to the next a little confusing but it works, looking for photos to fill an album to explain the mystery of the island is a little farfetched, a little short on gameplay but all in all this is an engrossing tale about survival. Help Angel keep her brain intact and get off that crazy island full of monsters!
Features of Twisted Lands: Insomniac Collector’s Edition:
-Continuing Engaging Tale of Mark and Angel
-Point and Click Adventure, Hidden Object and Mini Games
-Good Artwork and Great Music/Sound Effects
-Collector’s Edition: Bonus Chapter (another hour of play), Concept Art, In-Game Strategy Guide

Midnight Mysteries: Devil on the Mississippi Collector’s Edition Review
Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) and Shakespeare? What does the 2 have in common? Mac hidden object adventure Midnight Mysteries: Devil on the Mississippi Collector’s Edition takes you on an incredible journey of ghosts and mysteries involving the 2 great writers and more.
This point and click adventure game has only 1 mode of play but that’s all you need since the hint and in-game strategy guide are quite good, even if you are a novice, you’ll be able to play without any obstacles. The hint button will take you directly to where you need to be with clearly marked arrows or in the hidden object games
bats will circle the item. You can skip the puzzles after the button charges up. It takes a while and most of the games are easy enough to figure out, even though there are no instructions, before the button is ready, so try doing it while you are waiting. Other things you must watch for are the ravens and 4-leaf clovers. Click on the ravens for more hints and click on 70 clovers to unlock a special unlimited Hidden Object game.
The Hidden Object games are highlighted and will zoom into a scene full of items to click on and solve. The list of items you must find is at the bottom of the screen. The green lettering is a clue of what you need to find like “finger adornment” or “fuzzy water plant”. The blue items you must interact with the scene to
get to that item. After finishing the list, you will get 1 more item to look for like a key to use it later.
The inventory list from items you have earned, solved or found will sometimes need to be combined before you can use it. There are 2 squares to the right of the list with a plus sign between the 2 boxes. Click on 2 items you want to put together like a blade and handle. Now you can use it in a scene.
In addition to all this you will come across mini puzzles to get into locked areas. A lot of the puzzles will need missing pieces to find in different scenes and then, you must figure out how to solve it. Also there will be ghosts you will need to do tasks for before they will allow you to pass or help you. Other things that will help you will be signs, newspapers, books and notes.
Midnight Mysteries: Devil on the Mississippi Collector’s Edition is an interesting and fun game full of puzzles, HOGs and ghosts. The background sound effects are spot on with eerie noises, and the animation creates a spooky atmosphere, however there’s no voice acting. You do get to interact with the ghosts with questions you can ask at the bottom of the screen. Some of the puzzles can be challenging if you have not played this kind of game before, but most of it is easily solved with great helps. The story can get a little convoluted with an evil force chasing Mark Twain’s ghost, but it’s still a good tale. Try this game out. I think you’ll enjoy it.
Features of Midnight Mysteries: Devil on the Mississippi Collector’s Edition:
-Fascinating Tale of the Ghost of Mark Twain
-Hidden Object and Mini Puzzles
-Great Animation, Artwork and Music
-Collector’s Edition: Bonus Game, In-Game Strategy Guide, Concept Art and Wallpapers

Jewel Quest Myteries-Curse of the Emerald Tear Review

Looking for lost treasure would get old by now, right? Jewels Quest Mysteries-Curse of the Emerald Tear is just as exciting and fun as all the Jewel Quest series, and you are still looking for lost treasure. Go figure. In this Mac game you
have the hidden object play with a match game and an early game board puzzle.
The main play is the hidden object one with a little twist to it. Instead of getting helps automatically you must search for 3 gold coins in order to get hints for your game. In addition to the usual list of items located on the left side, you need to search for gems scattered throughout each location. The gems will buy you upgrades to your game so it is important to find as many as possible in each area.
You are in Egypt and the map takes you to various locations in your search for treasure. Also watch out to not click randomly on items or you will be deducted time. There are 2 modes of play for the hidden object game, Regular Time and Extended Time. The choice is yours.
In Jewel Quest Mysteries you have the familiar story of searching for gems in this case the Emerald Tear, Rupert and
Emma Pack and in a place like the Valley of the Kings, Egypt. Of course, not to mention the fabled power of this gem to do great things is another draw to investigate this unique game. All this sounds all too cliché, but Jewel Quest is consistently good with all their games and this one is no exception. The graphics and sound effects are excellent, and the play is enjoyable. This game combines the Jewel Quest match games with a hidden object play in the best possible way.
Features of Jewel Quest Mysteries:
-18 Backgrounds
-Exotic Hidden Object Games
-Mini Games
-Jewel Quest Mystery Storyline
