Ancient Tripeaks Review

I am not a card player, but I decided after reading the review on Macgames.info on Ancient Tri Jong to attempt Ancient Tripeaks. From Bostongamer’s explanation and the simple tutorial I figured out how to play this fun and relaxing game.
The 8 modes appeared daunting at first, but I went through them one by one and found each mode to be a little different in strategy and play. The 8 were Classic, Mirror, Double, Circle, Reverse, Turned, Stars and Single. The titles pretty much explains how the deck of cards will appear on the screen. The Classic is the traditional format, mirror the top and bottom mirrors each other, Double used 2 decks, Circle connected into a round shape, and the Turned mode all the cards were faced up. Peaks described the placement of cards to form peaks.
The play is assisted by hitting the H key to get help. This will teach you about each section of the game. You move all the cards from the peaks on the game board to the stack on the right side. The available cards must be either 1 higher or 1 lower from the visible card on the right side of the stack regardless of the suit. There is a timer so you must make your decisions quickly but smartly. If you make a mistake or change your mind you can click on the Undo button to correct the last move. If there is any time left over, you get bonus points. If time runs out, the game is not over and the play will continue, but there are no bonus points.
The Combo Multiplier increases your score every time the Combo Bar fills up. You get a multiplier (either x2, x3, x4). The Combo Meter is when each card from the play area is removed it, and it will fill up a percentage of the combo bar. However, the longer you wait between moves the bar will deplete. The Combo Counter keeps track of the numbers of cards in a row you’ve removed without hitting the Undo button or clicking on the deck. Each time you click on the deck 30 points will be deducted. A peak completed will add 100 points times the multiplier points.
I’m glad I tried this card Mac game first, because it is easy to learn, the tutorial, and the review helped me understand the play better. It is a great game to pass the time in a relaxing manner. If you are new to card games like me or just want a enjoyable game to play, try Ancient Tripeaks.
Features of Ancient Tripeaks:
-Ancient Theme
-8 Tripeaks Games
-Twists and Combo Bonuses
-Multiple Decks

Leeloo’s Talent Agency Review
Another sim time management/multitasking Mac game with a twist is Leeloo’s Talent Agency. Leeloo is born into a family of actors but she went the college route studying economics. However, as stories like these always end up with some connection to the past, Leeloo uses her education by opening up a talent agency looking for actors to play different roles for movies.
The sim play is easy to pick up with the tutorial. The many characters will arrive to take a chance at acting and making it big. Above their heads will appear what they want to do. An actor may want to look at scripts so you click on him and drag him to the chair to browse
through treatments. He will ask Leeloo to come and select a script for him. You click on her to go and pick out the matching script. The role will appear at the top and the scrolling roles will appear at the bottom. You must click on the identical picture. Another person may want to go directly to the makeup table and another may want to go shoot their movie right away. After completion the actor will walk to the receptionist’s desk to sign his contract with Leeloo’s agency. The goal of the sim game is to meet the number of actors needed to cast in a movie.
The next part of the game is on the movie set where you will play a hidden object/seek and find play. Like other HOGs you will be finding
items for your inventory and with that object you may need to use it for repairing things such as finding 4 wheels and replacing it on the wagon train. The movie sets could be a western, pirate, family life or many other movie scenes.
With upgrades you buy equipment, foods or more stations to accommodate clients. There are puzzles within the sim play such as the
photo shoot you do for the actors so they will have pictures for their resume portfolios. After shooting the photos, you have to fit the correct size pictures into the page. In addition to the movie related actions you must make, you have addition duties making food for your hungry actors. You must match the correct food items to what the actor requested.
There are many different plays in Leeloo’s Talent Agency from sim to hidden object to puzzles. I like doing the different plays instead of playing a straight sim time management. It gives you time to recoup before the next one. Of course, I do prefer HOGs to sim plays and
that may be the reason I like this game better. All the games are not difficult, but will increase in tasks as you increase in the levels. The music is light and lively and the graphics good. If you are a sim or HO player, this game covers both modes with a lighthearted story of Leeloo and her talent agency.
Features of Leeloo’s Talent Agency:
-70 Levels
-Hidden Object Challenges
-7 Different Movies to Make

Kuros Review
Kuros is an adventure point and click, puzzle solving Mac game. There are some hidden object games where when you click on the scene, you will get a wheel of outlined objects you must search, find, click on, and drag the item to the silhouette.
You play as a young woman who cannot remember who she is and where she is. Thus begins your search for her identity and why she is in this strange world. You can click on as many items you wish since this is a point and click game. You will combine the many objects you pick up along the way and use them for tasks or puzzles like putting the color gems to light up and open doors. Once solved, it will access different things. Be sure to take your cursor to the edge of the screen because many times an arrow will appear taking you to different scenes. In order to reach your next destination, you must collect all the map pieces. Once collected, you must put it together in a jigsaw puzzle.
There are many puzzles to solve before you can advance to another location. In order to reach the Oracle’s tree house you must complete 4 slide picture puzzles. Each completed puzzle will give you a land mass and get closer to the tree. If you wish to skip a puzzle, you must
find a Scrying Orb in a scene. You may have to go back to the first few environments to find this and other helps you will need along the way. The Chromatic Lens will reveal random hidden objects. However, these helps are few and far apart, not to mention you do not know what they look like. Use these helps wisely and do not squander them because you do not want to do a particular puzzle. Most of the puzzles are not difficult and can be solved by a little logic like guiding the ball through the maze. The wand comes in handy for lighting the way in a dark room. Once you figure out how to light the room, you will no longer need the wand.
Kuros is not a particularly long game, but has a lot of puzzles you need to solve logically. I get the feeling that there is a sequel coming soon. I wouldn’t say this is a hidden object game because most of the time you are just point and clicking your way through until the next mini puzzle. However it is an adventure looking for this woman’s identity and whereabouts with original and creative drawings to look at. The voice over is fine and since you can click on the written words, you can move quickly by the story if you wish. I am both a puzzle and HOG person so enjoyed the mini games but wished the hidden object part could have been extended to searching for listed items. Try the demo and see what you think.
Features of Kuros:
-An Adventure Story
-Many Objects to Find
-Great Graphics
-A Lot of Logic Puzzles

GL Golf Review
Fore! You don’t hear it too often, and thank goodness you don’t, because if you do, there’s a hard golf ball coming your way and you need to duck. However, it’s good to hear because then you are on a course playing golf, but if you can’t be on the greens, you can play GL Golf either on your ipod, iphone or Apple computer. GL Golf is a great golf game to pass the time no matter what mode of equipment you use to play it.
I’m reviewing the Mac game version of GL Golf. First and foremost this game has a lot of options to choose from to make your play as realistic as possible. You can choose the course, what kind of club to use, different color balls, and more. You can play from the different types of tees depending on your level of expertise. The white tee is regular, the blue is expert and red is ladies. Hey, where are the gold tees for seniors? Some of the choices are a little weird like which season you would like to play, because all those who do not live in a cold weather area like the northeast US, you wouldn’t know that all the courses close down during the winter months. I think some diehard golfers would like to be out there on the courses in the snow, but it would ruin the greens. Also who wants to play in the dark? The ball is hard enough to see as it is so your best bet is to play in daylight. In addition, real golfers will never take unlimited mulligans. I don’t think they would take even 1, but hey, if you are practicing or new to golf, it’s a good thing.
The play is simple after making all your decisions. You click on the space bar once (watch the swing gage so as not to go past the line and hit the ball at the strength you want) and then again to make contact with the ball. The distance is given to you like on the scorecards or now the new gps gadgets for golf courses. Tapping the golf ball into the hole feels realistic since I always putt too hard and it goes past the hole, and the same happened in this game. After a few tries, you get the hang of it and you’ll be able to master this action easily. Also the undulating greens are represented so you know to hit it to the right or left. You get all the data needed to make a good shot: the overview of the hole, wind velocity, yardage, etc.
Whether you go to the driving range (practice mode) or play the tournament mode, you’ll enjoy this game almost as much as going golfing itself. It’s easier to play than going out and dragging your bags out to the golf course, and has a lot of the bells and whistles of the real play minus the exercise. The music is a little too laid back with a lounge type 70’s sound (is the song called More?), and could use an upbeat tune to relax and improve your game.
This Mac game is not your Tiger Woods’ PS3, X-box, WII play, and it doesn’t represent itself as such, but it is still well made and good fun. GL Golf is what it is, a plain, retro play for when you are not traipsing through the rough or sand traps, and want to spend a pleasant afternoon hitting some golf balls.
Features of GL Golf:
-More than 22 Courses
-Driving Range or Tournament
-Lots of Options

Farm Mania Review

Have you ever wondered what life would be like on a working farm? Well, you do not have to wait any longer in Farm Mania the sim time management Mac game will take you through the tasks and chores of rural living and working.
Anna needs to help her grandpa take care of his farm. He is getting older and it is difficult for him to care for everything by himself. Your job is to help run this farm by earning and selling the produce and animal products. The game has 2 modes of play: Arcade (timed) or Casual (no timer).
You begin the play by soliciting the pumpkin seeds at the bottom of the screen to plant in the patch of dirt. The game will let you know what to plant and how much to plant. Pay attention to this because it will make a difference in your play. I just planted what I wanted and did not make enough money for the purchasing of a duck, but the game assumed I should have made enough money and would not let me go on to the next level and would not let me buy the duck because I didn’t have enough money. It was a vicious cycle until I decided to get out of the game and start over and follow the instructions. To begin the play you click on the pumpkin and then click on the area where
you want to grow the pumpkin. Next click on the well, and Grandpa will fill a bucket of water to irrigate your vegetable garden. After watering you need to click again on the patch to hoe, and click when the pumpkin is ripe. Click to pick up the pumpkin and click on the bicycle to deliver it to the market. Afterwards the bicycle rack will have your money for your pumpkin. Click on it and it will go towards your earnings.
After your level is complete, the game takes you to the shop where, if unlocked, you can purchase different kinds of seeds, equipment, and farm animals. With the additional purchases your farm will earn more money quickly. When you
purchase animals, they have additional needs to keep them healthy and happy from pumpkins and cabbages. They must be fed so Grandpa must harvest the crop to feed them, and they need water so he has to go back to the well for the bucket of water. If done properly and fast, the duck will lay eggs to sell at the market.
Other plays are the pig is the trash bin and will take care of useless things, crows will tear apart the crops so click on it to scare it away, and the rabbits if you click repeatedly will get rid of them for good. Another side game is the sheep
hidden from the wolves. You must find 10 sheep in the scene.
Farm Mania will get hectic after several levels so many chores to accomplish, but this is what the farm life is all about, right? The graphics and sounds are good and the play is enjoyable. Save Grandpa and his precious farm!

-Life on the Farm and Country
