Jojo’s Fashion Show – World Tour Review
“Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.” A quote from Oscar Wilde and one of many interspersed in Mac game Jojo’s Fashion Show – World Tour. An omen for the game to come? No, not even close. All you fashionistas know that fashion is in the eyes of the beholder. In this game you travel across the globe to find unusual and bold designs for your fashion shows. There’s no limit to what people will wear.
The story line picks up where you left off in the previous Fashion Show games. Jojo’s daughter is now ready to venture out on her own and start a clothing line without mom’s help. This leaves Jojo stranded and must find an assistant worthy of taking Rosalind’s place. Hayley is hired to meet those needs. Hayley’s agenda is another matter and the story will twist and turn as it progresses in between levels.
Starting in Japan, you encounter styles like Kimono Krazy or Tokyo Street, both very different from each other and most styles. There are Gothic Loli and Loli are thrown in in the mix to make the play more interesting. As you travel the world you’ll encounter more styles representing each city’s uniqueness. In Europe you will come across Amsterdam Street that is different from Tokyo Street. Urban Rasta
another different but surprising style found in Amsterdam makes playing this game interesting to keep each fashion style in mind to properly dress your models. Some of these fashions are a little familiar even to a non-fashionista like myself. They are in the most part based upon real fashion styles you may find around the world.
In addition to all these styles, you can design your own line of fashion. You can design your own outfits in a side game where you choose the kind of top, bottom, shoe as well as the colors for each outfit and trimmings.
The main play is to put on several fashion shows showcasing Jojo’s designs in each city around the globe. Your job is to dress each model as fast as you can in the style listed above their heads. At the beginning you will be shown the components of each style. You will select from the bottom the correct items to dress each model. The runway button will light up after you completely dress each model. After clicking on that button, your model will walk the runway where photographers and critics assess your selections. The flashing of the light bulbs, applauds and accolades will come if you have done your job properly. This part of waiting for your points and score takes some time and at first it’s nice to see all the rewards of your labor, but it does get tiresome when you repetitively have to wait for all the applauds to subside. I found it easier to just to click on the screen to hurry the show along. If you match the designated outfit for your person correctly, you will be given high points. Matching the Signature Outfits will get you bonus points.
In addition you will get power-ups to help you in dressing your models. The power-ups can change the clothes at the bottom of the screen so you can more accurately dress your model. They come in handy when you have a specific style you must do and no shoes are available for it. Click on a power-up at the upper right corner to access more clothes and shoes to choose from. These buttons are extremely helpful when you need something and it’s not there. However, as the level progresses, it becomes harder to dress your model properly and quickly, and Hayley may just send your model out on the runway without any shoes or worse yet….
So follow the fashion trends and travel from Tokyo, Amsterdam, London, Jakarta, Rio de Janeiro to Barcelona and find your own fashion sense in Mac sim time management game Jojo’s Fashion Show-World Tour. This game is for fashionistas and sim players who enjoy a fast paced game. At the beginning of each level, the game slowly allows you to get used to a style, but quickly you start hearing Hayley yelling at
you to hurry up. The time factor actually made the play a lot more interesting. The game is not difficult but does get challenging trying to keep all the styles straight, and with added items to include with your models like hats, sunglasses, bows, jewelry and purses.
In the words of Tim Gunn in Project Runway, “Make it work,” and have fun playing Jojo’s Fashion Show-World Tour.
