Jewel Match 2 Review

jewel-match-2

Jewel Match 2 like Jewel Match is an aesthetically beautiful game with background pictures of fairytale castles and scenery. The graphics is what makes this Mac game different from other match plays.

The game is to match 3 or more gems in a row either vertically or horizontally to remove the jewels from the board. To finish a level you must make matches over the golden squares. When the amulet appears at the top of the board you must make matches below it to get it to the bottom.

Random gold and silver coins will appear and you must click on them so you can earn monies to buy useful items in the shop to use in your play. The fireball is one that will destroy gems both up and down the grid. The gem matches will fill your bag full of jewels (located in the upper right hand side). When the bag is full, you can buy a bigger chest to store your gems. The jewels are used to buy parts of the castle that you are building. Other helps are the mana for spells needed to activate and use whatever power-ups you have purchased. You just click on the mana to place on top of the screen until you are ready to use it. The hammers from the first game are again here in this second one. The hammers depending on the strength could destroy either one or all the same colored jewels. The map shows where you will be building your next castle and the levels.

The blocks are the boxes where you need to make 2 matches to clear and the single and double chains. The hours glass timer on the right is used in the timed play but not the relaxed one.

Jewel Quest 2 is very much like the first game where the graphics and background scenes are amazing, and the music is slow and soothing for a relaxed play. I enjoyed this second version better than the first with the extra play in earning coins and gems to buy extras in the shop and build castles.

Features of Jewel Match 2:

-150 Levels

-8 Power-ups

-Gather Mana to activate Power-ups

-Build 7 Fantasy Castles

Fishdom: Harvest Splash Review

For all you diehard Mac match 3/simulation Fishdom players here’s another game, one with a fall theme. This time you’ll see cornucopias, fall colors and pilgrim’s hats. There are fish, plants and filtration systems to make a beautiful autumnal fish tank.

The play is exactly the same as the other Fishdom match games: Spooky Splash and Frosty Splash. You play a match 3 game to earn enough money so you can fill a fish tank full of fish, plants, and comfort items. The tank and the items in the bowl are almost identical to the other Fishdom games. You need to fill the water scene with fish, beauty and comfort items to keep the environment healthy and happy. In order to meet their needs, you must play match 3 games to earn cash to buy items. You can also photograph your tank.

In the match 3 levels you swap 2 items to make matches of 3 or more of the same icons either horizontally or vertically. The icons are exactly the same ones used in the other Splash games like the stingray, conch shell, turtles, jellyfish and more. Additional items to round off the objects are the harvest types. Even some of the shapes of the game boards are identical. The powerups from the firecrackers to the lightning is also the same. The blocks are your usual chains, double chains (must match over 2xs), the metal tiles (2xs), etc.

If you really liked the other Fishdom games, you’ll want to try Harvest Splash. However, if you are new to the Fishdom series, you may want to try all of them to see which one suits you the best or which seasonal holiday you like. They are all about the same so you probably need to get only one or two. The Frosty Splash appears to have made the most effort in doing a theme game because the music is Christmas-like and objects related to the theme. I give this Fishdom: Harvest Splash 3 out of 5 because of the similarity to the other games but still a solid play.

Features of Fishdom: Harvest Splash:
-Autumn Themed Fish Tanks
-Match 3 Plays
-Sim Game

Zenerchi Review

zenerchi

Zenerchi is a positive state of mind created by solving the puzzles of life. This is an ambitious claim for a mind puzzle, but perhaps they are right. A beautifully designed Mac game Zenerchi is a calming, but challenging puzzle. Its concentric circles are a different play from the usual rectangular swap format of match 3 or more colors game.

In this game you rotate the circular ring of colors around until you are able to make 3 or more of the same colored pieces to match. This will re-energize the Color Container and allows the Zenerchi to grow. The level is complete when all sections of the Color Container are filled. Larger matches will fill the container faster, and when the time runs out, the level is over. You can gain time by completely filling a Zenerchi Color Container. After completion of a level you are awarded an expert quote. This can be a philosophical quote from a famous person.

The extras are 5 or more matches will create a small burst and by double clicking on it will explode 4 surrounding pieces. Color blockers will prevent rings from turning. This will stop you from making matches. The only way to get rid of the blockers is by making matches on them or to activate a burst near by. The binders, will hold 2 pieces in rings together and will stop movements. To rid the binders you need to make matches on either of the blocks and this will destroy the binder. Sometimes bursts will unbind the pieces. It is imperative you break the binders as soon as possible, because too many binders will end a level.

You begin with the Journey Mode until Zen is unlocked. In the Zen mode there are addition blocks such as the enigmas where 2 rings will rotate in opposite directions. Also numbers on the bands will decrease by 1 on every turn and when the number reaches 0, it will turn into a blocker.

Zenerchi is a well thought out Zen-like puzzle with many useful phrases for your life lessons. It also is an interesting change from the usual swap 3 match game. What I liked about it was the lack of a story to slow down your play, the beautiful, intense colors and the soothing music.

Features of Zenerchi:
-50 Levels
-Journey or Zen Mode
-3 or more matches
-Power-ups

Hidden Wonders of the Depths 3: Atlantis Adventures Review

The third one is the charm, right? Well, in Hidden Wonders of the Depths 3: Atlantis Adventures it is. Even though it is much like Hidden Wonders 1 and 2 in the match 3 play, the timed game is very much a challenge. There are many differences in this latest match 3 version. The colors are more intense and vibrant, more hidden object games and less memory games. The music not as intense as before but it is appropriate to the play. The crab is still its sassy and impatient self, losing none of its funny personality.

The premise of this game is that you can resurrect Atlantis destroyed many centuries ago to its former glory by making matches to earn money, bonuses and upgrades. With the money you earn you can purchase buildings, statues and more to beautify the once grandiose city. Bonuses will get you fish, coral and other items to enhance the scene.

The match 3 is the main play still in Hidden Wonders of the Depths 3 with playful board designs and related icons. You swap 2 tiles to make a match of 3 or more similar items either vertically or horizontally. In addition you must make matches in front of the crab so he travels to the treasure chest. Also there are colored tiles you must make matches over to destroy before the level can be completed. I got the crab to the chest easily but the level did not end because I had missed one tile in a corner. If you should lose a level, you have 4 more lives in the timed mode and you can get more lives by playing the mini games.

There are fun bonuses and upgrades to help you along on your journey. Some will need a few levels to complete your upgrade tools. You’ll see them on the right side of the screen. The powerups are on the left side. There are many blocks that will need to be cleared with your upgrades to pass barriers. The blocks can be stone, vines and other things to block your passage. The crab himself is a block because you can’t move him to make a match.

Between match levels there are many mini games related to the story. The hidden object scenes will take you to undersea places where you will look for items. There is a beautiful mosaic puzzle you must return to its original design. Other games are the blank board with very few objects scattered around and the match by collapsing your objects game.

The rebuilding of Atlantis is a game in itself. You need to make enough money from your match games to buy different beautiful buildings and statues for your city. Remember you can only purchase one building a day. With each improvement you will win a reward like coral. To see your city any time click on the eye icon at the bottom left.

Many of these things are familiar and may be too easy for you, but it’s still fun to do and try out. The main play is very similar to the first 2 games, but the developers listened to your suggestions and improved on many aspects. The artwork is more vibrant and colorful from the first game. I checked it out. The music is slightly different and more calming. If you want a challenge, play it timed to meet your difficulty demands. If you liked the first 2 games, you’ll like this third improved version. Try it out and see what you think.

Features of Hidden Wonders of the Depths 3: Atlantis Adventures:
-Improved Match 3 Levels
-Rebuild Atlantis
-Lots of Mini Games

Call of Atlantis Review

call-of-atlantis

The mystical land of Atlantis was a blissful, idyllic place where Poseidon created for his people, but as time past they neglected the god and darkness fell throughout the kingdom. The altar of Poseidon was separated and 7 crystals were sent to 7 countries and 7 cities to be sealed forever.

The hero will be the one to remove the spells and bring the crystals back together to resurrect and bring the power back to Atlantis. The hero is you, and you need to swap 3 or more like items in a row to conquer and win back the jeweled encrusted altar. In the match game there is an amulet of Poseidon power-up which must be used in the level. There are bombs once brought to the bottom of the game board can be used in a hard to destroy area.

This game is very similar to Around the World in 80 Days with a different story line, but somehow Call of Atlantis is not as an engaging of a tale. The play although is a match game like many match games, it was not as exciting to play. I thought it was good but not enticing enough to play it again. Maybe it is because I didn’t play the previous Atlantis games, but I think other match plays are more interesting. However, the artwork is excellent. If you are into Poseidon and Atlantis, this may be the game for you.

Features of Call of Atlantis:
-Part of the Atlantis Series
-66 Levels
-7 Lands to Explore
-7 Crystals to Recover
