So you are a brave prince on your way to marry your beautiful princess when an evil, ugly witch stops all your future endeavors. Who knows why someone would curse your beloved and the castle in order to stop you from marrying? Maybe she is interested in you and wants to be your mate? In any event, you are not going to take it anymore and you go to the dragon’s lair to see if they could help you defeat the wicked witch. Who knew dragons are so helpful? It is the year of the dragon so maybe they are willing to assist you in your quest to recover your princess.

Before the dragon can help you with this, you must help the dragons raise their own “clutch”. You take on this task by clicking repeatedly on an egg to hatch, when the adorable baby dragon emerges, you must take care of it by feeding and collecting their gems. Yes, baby dragons poop out jewels. Hooray! No dirty diapers to change. Click on the gem to collect because the main dragon will give you your goals to collect a number of jewels. These gems can, in turn, be forged into magical jewelry (necklaces, rings) to sell for gold dragon coins.

The progress quest is at the upper right of the screen along with the Start of Day button. You use the button to start each day of dragon duties. The screen will darken when you day is almost over. However, before you start the day, be sure you have filled your food rack, forged your jewels, and other preparatory business you must deal with. Once you begin your day you will be kept busy feeding the babies by clicking on them when you see the bubble with the drumsticks. Collect their gems by clicking and fight off the intruders. These so called heroes will enter your precious nursery to create havoc and steal your wards. Just click on the enemy and see their clothes fly off them one by one. Once they are in their undies, they will escape your cave as fast as they came into it. But, wait. They will leave blue orbs of hero essence for you to collect. Once again click on these because they’ll come in handy later in the game.

As these sim breeding management games tend to do, they increase your duties many folds. However, you with your amazing time management skills will be able to make a lot of money raising baby dragons. Hire trolls, goblins and imps to help you with your many tasks including protecting your growing dragons, feeding and collecting the gems.

Mac sim time management game Dragon Keeper is a fun and entertaining game to while away the day. It could have been longer with different types of dragons but that may be for the next version. They produce different colors and shapes of gems, but all in all it’s basically the same. There are only 4 chapters with 3 types of dragons per chapter. The dragons and characters are adorable, the artwork good and the music is cute and light making for a great time all around. So brave prince, rescue your fair maiden and raise your dragons.

Cat lovers rejoice! Here’s a Mac platform puzzler with 3 mischievous cats that get into everything and everywhere. Figure out how to get these 3 cats pass the obstacles and get the scrumptious sausages in this fun physics based game.

You use the 3 cats with 3 different skills to overcome the many different blocks. The goal is to get all the sausages by getting one of the cats to jump and snag one of these delectable treats. The cats’ faces are at the top left of the screen. When you click on one of them, you can use your arrow keys to make that particular feline move about. The right and left keys move the cats horizontally and the up arrow makes them jump. The yellow fat cat can muscle his way through most barriers like boxes, walls and more. The blue sleek cat jumps high but has problems getting through low spaces. The red kitten can go through these areas because of its size. Alternate the cats and you can succeed in getting the plumb brown sausages and get to the exit. All 3 cats must reach the exit to end the level.

The many obstacles can be a challenge but once you figure out the play, it becomes relatively easy. The wall with the knobs is a door and the only way the cats can open it is to move an heavy object on top of the automatic button located near the entrance. A stack of crates is no problem for the heavy set cat who can move tall barriers and topple them so the rest of the crew can go through. The cats will travel through different locations in the city including the sewer system in order to find food.

This puzzler is a fun, easy game to play. The 2D artwork is delightful and the cats are reminiscent of the felines in those famous Disney movies. They have personalities to match their amazing skills. The music is a joyful, goofy upbeat tune that makes you feel like playing the game. It may be more of a challenge for children but adults may enjoy the cute aspect of this puzzle. Try it out and help the cats get to the yummy sausages by working together.

A match 3 and sim time management game in one, Mac Dragon Hatchery combines the 2 in a fun and lively game for both kids and adults. Raise baby dragons to nobly regain their once powerful and protective position in the world.

Once the land was filled with dragons who wisely guarded the kingdom from evil, but for reasons unknown the dragons perished in the midst of deadly wars. The only survivors are the precious dragon eggs. You are needed to hatch, care for and raise the baby dragons. You begin in the hatchery matching 3 or more of the same color eggs to hatch. Eggs coming down the conveyor are displayed at the upper left corner. You click on the column you would like to place the egg. The eggs will hatch if you make a match of 3 or more of the same color eggs. If you each egg in strategic places, you can make large matches that may contain a dragon or coins. If you open eggs with letters, the word hatchery can be spelled for a huge bonus.

After hatching you go to the nursery to raise your dragons. The dragon babies will come down the waterway, you click on the hay, drag it to make a nest, click and drag the dragon to the nest. After awhile the baby will need food, water or bathing. Some of the tasks will require more than 1 step to complete like the food. The food must be bought with the gold you earned, click and drag the food to the grind until it is ready for a baby. Click and drag the food to the baby dragon to complete. Sounds easy, right? Wait until you have many baby dragons needing attention. The nursery gets to be wild with one dragon needing water, another food, another a bath and a clean nest. The goals of each level are listed at the bottom and upgrades can be purchased.

Dragon Hatchery with its cute and colorful artwork is entertaining and fun to do. The match play can get confusing at times when you have to quickly maneuver your egg into the right position in a short time. Pick the level you are most comfortable with by clicking on kid, normal or, if you dare, pro. The only thing I didn’t like is not being able to skip the tutorial. If you are up for a challenge, raise your adorable baby dragons for full and happy lives.

Ladybugs is a Mac game for very young children. You will have a lot of fun with your little toddler “working” on the computer. There is much opportunity here to teach your child the basics of the keyboard and mouse and have loads of entertainment as well.

There are short instructions where you can practice reading letters and words with your child. The white letters outlined in black make it easier to clearly see and read out loud, however it would have been more age appropriate with block lettering. Very young kids are able to learn so much it's almost unbelievable. They can learn their letters and words if given a chance, enough instruction and patience on your part.

The game has 3 modes of play and each one should be enjoyable for your child. Color Trouble is a section where you match the color of your ladybug to her house. Following the flower path, you guide the ladybug to the same color house. In the Ladybug Race you are racing the blueladybug to the houses. I think the blue ladybug is a little confused because she sometimes loses her way. This will give your child a chance to beat her. In the Tangled Maze you guide your ladybug through a maze to her like color house.

All 3 games will help your child with color recognition, coordination, direction and learning to win or lose. Even if you must control the mouse and keys for your tyke, I think a 2 year old would still appreciate the cute ladybugs and colorful scenery. All of these factors are very important in the development of young children. I think it would have been perfect if the developers added a memory game mode to the puzzles. It is incredible how much a toddler remembers.

The simple graphics, large cursor and the happy music will set the stage for a lighthearted afternoon of fun while at the same time learning new things on a cute, joyful game like Ladybugs. An extra bonus is the priceless bonding with your little one.

As the leader of this remarkable coalition you must travel world-wide to clean the air polluted atmosphere from industries, cars, and machines. In addition, you must reforest the devastated areas and return the balance back in the jungles. As you succeed in all these projects, you will, in turn, help save the endangered species. Also recycle factories are important to meet goals. You will take one step at a time in 7 continents with 15 levels each. After completing 10 missions, you can go on to another continent.

The levels consist of match 3 of the same items to clear. There are goals set for each level, and each level can be a match 3 like items to clear by one of the 3 methods: swap, drop or flood. At the upper right of the screen will let you know which of these 3 methods you will be playing. You must make matches over tiles or “eco zones” to finish the board. Coins collected can be used on the necessary projects. There is only a timed mode, but you can replay a level after unlocking it. You keep making matches until you fill all your goals at the right of the screen. Once these fill, you proceed to the next level.

There are useful power ups to assist you, and animals will help you on your missions. Jillian, your assistant, is there to guide and offer important data along the way.

Eco Match becomes an addictive match 3 play as you go along. The ecological information dispersed throughout the game is extremely important and useful for teachers, children and all beings who are into saving the planet. However, if you are a gamer wanting to play match 3 games, Eco Match will meet your needs. Some of the levels are easy, but some are a bit challenging and you may need those power ups. Have fun bringing back devastated forests and saving the endangered animals in an atmosphere of clean breathable oxygen.

Good Mac games for young children are hard to find, but not impossible. Ladybugs and Bob the Builder are a few that are phenomenal games for kids. Lua Lua can also be added to this group with its many puzzles and fun to be discovered by young minds.

Lua Lua is a complilation of 7 different types of puzzles geared towards young kids but gets challenging enough for some older ones. La La Land is not a reference to Los Angeles, but a game where animals will sing and you must remember the sequence of animal sounds. It’s like the electronic game Simon or Bop It! Your progression is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Don’t worry if you do not remember the order, it will reset and show you again what to do. No pressure.

Thinky Thinky is a memory game where you turn over puzzle pieces to reveal the animal. You make matches of 2 identical pieces to complete. Cute characters to see and match.

Taquin or teaser is a slide puzzle game. In this game you slide tiles to make a picture of an animal. Click on the empty space to move a tile. It starts off very easy but each level becomes increasingly more difficult.

Pig Tac Dog is a tic-tac-toe where you are the winner. You are the dog playing against the pig, and it is very difficult to lose. Loads of happy times for the young ones.

Drag n Drop is where you drag and drop a picture of an animal to the outlined forms.

Soopa Koopa can be challenging with re-assembling of animal faces. In the beginning there are only 2 rows to slide until the face appears. However, this puzzle goes up to 8 slices of a face and with this many rows to align, it may take some time before the face appears.

Catch a Match is an action packed game where you click on pairs of the same animal falling from the top of the screen. It begins slowly and easy, but it will challenge some kids with many different animals floating down the screen. However, you do not get penalized and there’s no big buzzer to out you just a pleasant game to work on your cursor skills.

All these games will challenge different parts of your children’s brain in a fun and entertaining fashion. These puzzles are kid versions of adult plays. The games states it’s for kids from 3 to 7 years, but I think some 2 years old have the concentration, if not the coordination, to enjoy the game. You’ve seen 2 year olds learning the state capitals, all 50 states, names of dinosaurs, world countries, presidents, languages, etc. The list is endless. If the adult has the patience to go over things with a 2 year old, they have the ability to absorb all the information.

4 of the games are available to try out in the demo and the other 3 are locked. The larger cursor is great for little tots. Lua Lua is kid friendly with fun music and great, colorful graphics. In fact you can access free adorable dog icons. My favorite is Sharpeipei. Others are Chocolab, Pugglywuggly, Bostielu, Dogbully and Toxicodog. You can view these pictures at Lua Lua Dog Icons. Also any and all upgrades are free so you can’t go wrong with this awesome Mac game for kids.

That’s what Spring Bonus will bring to the table when you play this extremely upbeat puzzle. You’ll have to clear the cold and ice from the many game boards to bring spring fully into this realm.

This game can be played timed or relaxed. You swap 2 adjacent items to make a line of 3 or more of identical pieces like chicks, rabbits, Easter eggs, nests with blue eggs, daffodils, daisies, and lambs to clear. Make 4 or more matches and you get a bonus bubble that when clicked will explode and take out a few tiles. If you make matches with glowing tiles, it will fill up the rainbow on the left. Right below the rainbow will show you the goals you need to make before the level is complete. Each level will have different tasks to complete. Click on 2 bluebirds to clear an entire row on the game board. When you see golden eggs, you need to bring them down to the bottom of the screen.
Blocks will come in forms of ice to melt the winter’s freeze and make way for spring and Easter. You need to make matches over the ice and they will break open. If you play the game in timed mode, the clock is at the left.

Spring Bonus is a solid match 3 game. It’s relaxing whether you play the timed (enough time to complete easily) or relaxed mode. There are a lot of fun power-ups from the bubbles, bluebirds, smiling sun to rain clouds. Some clear columns and others clear rows. There’s lots of action and colorful movements in this adorable and charming game for everyone including children.

There’s really no story to interfere with your match 3 plays, but lately other games have more to it like mini games, involved tales and voiced acting. It is an Easter game with the seasonal bunny everywhere, but that’s about all there is to it. If you are a straight match 3 player, this is the game for you. Also there's no need to keep this adorable game to yourself, let the kids in on the fun. I give it a 3 out 5 for a cute, good game.

Think Beach Boys or Jan and Dean when you hear the surfer music while playing Mac match game Burdaloo. With that in mind, relax and have fun matching the colorful crazy looking birds on the playful Hawaiian islands.

Go from island to island matching 3 or more same colored birds to make them fly off the vines. You click on a row and move the burds from side to side or up and down. This is similar to Chuzzle, another fun play. In order to complete the level, you fill the silhouetted burds at the left for one form of the match game. Other forms of play are to not let the burds reach the top of the screen, match burds in order given or match the burds to the small pattern on the left.

There are rankings given to you on how well you accomplished your goals in each level. They are gold, silver and green. You can always go back to better your score. Also there is the ever present shop where you can buy upgrades. The first item is free, but you will need burdaloons to pay for the other gently used products. An interesting shop buy is the paint that will cause all of the birds of the same color to fly away and clear out your board. Lots of fun shop buys to unlock.

It is not all fun and games, there are blocks in this play in the form of black burds called Herman. They will block you from sliding the rows either horizontally or vertically if they are sitting in your way. Also the foliage will impede you from moving the rows. As the game progresses, so do the blocks from Herman to less matches, but that’s the fun of it so keep trying. You can always come back to that location on the island if you wish. You can always play in the Zen mode. It’s the endless play.

Burdaloo is just plain fun match game to play and listen to the ukulele music while watching the colorful and stylistic artwork of Hawaiian backgrounds. The burds are cute and funny with their own personalities. Enjoy yourself.

Bob the Builder: Can Do Carnival is an educational and fun Mac game for kids ages 2-5 years of age. It is full of cute characters and a variety of things to do at different levels to assure your child succeeds in having fun.

Bob and his friends see the carnival train go by their town without stopping, and instead of being sad, they decide to build a carnival of their own. Your child can play the game in the Story mode where he/she will follow Bob and his friends build a carnival for their small town. The Free Play mode you play the games without the cute story and the Sticker mode you can click on the sticker at the bottom of the screen and place it on different backgrounds for unique scenes your child creates.

In order to make the game playable for your child, you can choose the difficulty level from Easy, Medium to Hard. Of course, hard is for the 5 year olds and the Easy for the youngest of the group.

The first game is the planning stage of creating a carnival. The blueprints must be drawn for the rides. Bob will guide your tot on how to play this game. There are several different plans in different stages of development. The first plan you need to click on is the blank blueprint, next the base and then a piece on top of the base. It may be hard for some the kids to decipher but with a little help and encouragement from Bob, they will be able to accomplish this task. The next game is building. There are many different length logs and steel beams scattered on the ground. The child must pick out the matching color and the longest piece first, click on it, drag it to the table and click again to place. Then the next size and color bar must be placed on top until the smallest log is on top. Another game is to secure screws and bolts with the same color and proper tool. Another is to clean up the tool room by placing the same color tool to its correct box.

Addition games involve numbers and other skills your little tot can work on like finding the cat under which pile of objects and counting objects. In most of the games, two characteristics are in play like numbers plus colors. For example it will ask which pile has 6 yellow logs or 9 green plants.

Throughout the game Bob is very upbeat with his comments even when you make a mistake he’ll say things like “try a different tool”, “keep going”, “nice work” or “Oops, try again”.

The Sticker mode is a completely different and fun game where your child’s creativity will come out. He/she can go wild making their own scenes with all the fun characters like Scoop, Roley and Muck.

Bob the Builder: Can Do Carnival like the other Bob games are both educational and entertaining at the same time for young children. They can practice their numbers, colors and more with this fun puzzle game. Have your kids try the demo out and see the smiles on their faces.

Take the tutorial or skip it if you are a veteran air controller from the first Airport Mania. There’s a lot to do and many planes to land in this new game. You will be playing in 9 different locations from a desert, North Pole, Tiki Taka Island and even to the moon.

Begin by clicking on a flying plane to select, click on the runway, then click on the gate to direct your plane to that location. After the plane reloads the passengers, it will display an up arrow to take the plane back to the runway and back to the sky. Okay, that’s the basic play, but you know there’s always a lot more in time management games and Airport Mania 2 is no exception. Try refueling, loading luggage, painting, getting a new plane license and more to add to your play. If that isn’t enough, chain your planes to land one after another before the arrows disappear for a combo. There are many combos to master and will give you combo multipliers on top of all that. You will need all those combos if you wish to pass any of the latter levels. By the way, there are 99 challenging levels to complete.

Whew, if that isn’t enough, you get upgrades to buy, sell and repurchase just so you can manage your airport. Believe me when I say, you will need all the upgrades you can get a hold of to conquer each level. There are 4 goals to achieve from normal to perfect so you can replay any level to get a better score. There’s more: mini games from finding gifts for Santa to fighting off an octopus. Oh, I almost forgot if you see the helicopter, click on for more fun.

To round off this game you have cute day/night graphics and sound effects. This game can be fun for kids but it is also challenging enough for casual gamers to play. The gameplay is very similar to the first game with additions. It’s difficult to differential the type of plane because the colors are similar and they all look alike. This is important in later levels. If you are a fan of TM, you will enjoy playing this colorful and charming game so take to the air and fly the skies!

There is a mystery on a group of islands where all the humans have disappeared and left the animals to fend for themselves. Professor Fizzwizzle with his genius inventions comes to the rescue. He uses the Fizzball to encapsulate the animals and puts them in a sanctuary until the mystery can be solved. The play is simply to shoot the bubble towards the animals to catch them. If an animal is too large for the bubble, it will bounce off the livestock such as a cow or horse startling or maybe annoying them. When the size of the bubble increases them the bubble will engulf the animal. In between getting the animals, the ball will break whatever is in its path. Some of the broken items will have surprise bonuses. The coins collected will go towards feed for the animals. The professor is at the bottom of the screen, and you move him back and forth bouncing the bubble of animals back to capture the rest of the creatures. After catching all the animals, including the birds, you finish the level and move on to the next island location. The change of locations brings about many funny scenes and surprises.

In order to keep the game entertaining obstacles are added to bring interest into your play. They could be more fences, trees, bales of hay, shooting Martians and more. Your job is to avoid getting shot at, break through the blocks and bounce the bubble off the Fizzball. The animal sanctuary will show you all the animals the professor has saved, and there is a section for all the trophies you have collected through the levels.

Fizzball is a great balance between the island story and breakout game. It also accounts for experienced gamers and kids in order to keep frustration levels down to adequately play a brick busting game both simple and challenging. This game has everything you need for an exciting fun experience, and you will not be able to put it down. Help the good professor rescue the island animals and find the answer to the island mystery.

With 50 challenging levels Diaper Dash will keep you busy caring for infants in a daycare center in Wilson’s sister house. Fortunately you earn upgrades, money and medals for your earnest and hard working efforts.

Wilson an inventor gets fired from his job at the baby research laboratory where they make inventions for babies. With wise advice from, who else, Flo, Wilson gets started on his own research, er, daycare center. In Diaper Dash you have 2 modes of play, Career where you meet your goals, buy upgrades and use your inventions each day. Endless you have an endless stream of babies coming and going continuously, and if you lose too many customers because they are unhappy, then you are out of business.

The play is easy but hectic when more and more babies arrive at the center. You click on the baby at the playpen at the entrance, the picture above the head will show you what the baby needs, and you click on the station. You get in a groove moving the babies around from the highchair to feeding station, to crib and, of course, the dreaded diaper stand. That would be enough for any caretaker, but there’s more, you have to clean where the babies stayed, because, let’s face it, babies are messy. In addition you have to throw out the diapers initially every three dirty ones and when upgraded more. This may not sound so daunting until you have many crying babies needing diaper changes. Once you finish your first invention, the Cleanatron, you will have assistance cleaning your center. Unfortunately, Cleanatron must be re-charged every now and then so it is not always available.

Diaper Dash is part of the Dash series. Although the play is similar to those games, the developers always include some little twist to make your play interesting. I found the inventions helped immensely improve the play and all the upgrades needed to speed up your procedures are always appreciated. Take time to play Diaper Dash and see how fast you can move and keep the babies happy.

The fourth installment of Dream Chronicles takes you along with Lyra, daughter of Faye, in her adventure to get back to her family. You will remember Faye who fought her way back from imprisonment and her search for her beloved husband kidnapped by the evil fairy queen. Now her offspring, Lyra is the main character and the heroine in Mac seek and find game Dream Chronicles: Book of Air Collector’s Edition.

Lyra finds herself mysterious transported to another dimension in her town in a strange dreamlike state the day before her 18th birthday. She remembers her grandfather Tangle had a gift for her. Her only hope of returning to her beloved family is to pay attention to her grandfather’s notes and find the clockmaker as soon as possible. Through series of challenges and puzzles, she must figure out how to get to the clockmaker and make him return her to the right dimension. Could anything else go wrong? Every turn she makes things have the propensity to fall apart or break into many pieces such as the statue in front of the school. Unfortunately, you cannot get into the school until all the pieces are found and returned to its rightful place. The same thing happens with the airship. When you think you are ready to take off and sail away, the ship falls apart and you must find a way to fix it.

The play is to point and click each scene as you go along searching for the clockmaker. There are 2 modes: casual where it is easier slightly and can skip puzzles after waiting. Challenge mode is more difficult and you cannot skip the puzzles. In addition you must click on all the “dream pieces” or gems. The hints or helps depend upon how many you can find. You will need the pieces to reveal the Dream Jewel located along the left side of the screen. This button will find secrets on pages and maps. Other helps will decipher messages in ancient languages. The Dream Journal at the lower right corner will offer guidance and review when you need it. You can click randomly without penalty. Your final score is based on the amount of time you complete the game, the number of skipped puzzles, the number of dream pieces and the number of times you use the Locate Power (helps find inventory items).

Some of the mini games are find the words in a grid of letters, logic games, and fuel the airship by using the color stones and then clicking on the stones to fuel the ship. You need to do this last game every time you need to fly the airship. None of the games are difficult, but in the challenge mode may take a little longer to do.

When is a sequel too much? Is it the 2nd or 3rd? In Dream Chronicles: Book of Air Collector’s Edition it is the fourth. There is something missing from this 4th game. The intensity of Faye’s search or her high-strung personality is missing from the Book of Air. The story is not so interesting either. You go through this adventure trying to save yourself but with very little fear of anyone attacking you or losing a loved one. The artwork is comparable to the other Chronicles. It is clear, colorful, detailed and full of imagination. The music is also good. The puzzles are not as challenging either but with 2 modes kids will be able to appreciate the Dream Chronicle play. It’s a little short for one of their games but it might keep the interest of new casual players since it’s easier than the prior games and you do not have to play the others to understand the story. Try it out and see what you think. This edition has a bonus chapter.
