Deep Voyage Review
Match games have to work hard to make it interesting and a little different from all the others. Deep Voyage is a new aquatic Mac match game has done just that with a twist. Instead of swapping, sliding, or twisting to match 3 or more like colors, in this game you click directly on 3 or more like pieces to destroy them. You can explode a whole slew of items in one fell swoop and can do so quickly.
The story is about a young mermaid who longs to be in the royal undersea gardens. The only way to get access to the beautiful seascape is to enter and win the design competition being held by the palace. Unfortunately she does not have the funds to buy the necessary supplies to decorate her entry. Her friend convinces her to search for decoration on the ocean floor.
This is where your adventure begins. The match 3 or more like pieces to destroy starts off easy enough but quickly gets difficult, and strategy to use bombs, dynamite, and other extras are definitely needed to pass a level. When you see a token you need to make matches below it to bring it down to the bottom of the board to collect the piece. The coins are important to buy power ups. Some of the extras are instant bombs, column and row remove, pieces eliminator (randomly removes pieces from the board), recolor, and bombardment (bombs fall to random pieces). The red flashing diamonds remove blocks of items around it, and to activate it you click on it. The timer is on the right and when it runs out, you lose the level. You can click on the power up button located on the lower left of the screen when it is loaded. Click on it and then click on any part of the board you need assistance. However to use it again you must wait until it reloads.
In between the plays you find a jigsaw puzzle with underwater scenery to put back together by swapping tiles. If you keep the like colors together the picture will come together easily for you. Also you will see the map that gages your progress in this adventure game. In the meantime you build your sea garden from the points won in each level and decorations being open to you.
It’s been a while since a new kind of match game has been reviewed here. This play is great fun and the higher levels took a lot of strategy to complete. Use your power-ups and extras to beat each level. Enter the underworld design contest and win your way into the royal grounds.

Avernum 5 Review
Avernum 5 is a subterranean RPG adventure epic Mac game for all levels of expertise in gaming. The explicit tutorial and in-game help will introduce the new players to RPG play, and still be challenging enough for hardcore gamers with the battle disciplines and magical spells.
The Empire is prosperous and at the moment a peaceful land ruled by the powerful Empress Prazac who one day is attacked by Dorikas a dissident who escapes to the out lands called Avernum. There you will go underground and find the scrounge of the earth waiting to attack you. There are sickly people living in caves eating lizard meat and fungus. It was once a prison colony full of enemies of the Empire.
This is the land the Empress’ army will send you, a person who has not always been an ideal soldier and in the wrong place at the wrong time. You must prove yourself worthy in this hellish underground or die trying. You must choose your fellow soldiers wisely and for their strengths and weaknesses. There are 3 different races in this world: Human, Nephilum (feline people) and Slithzerikar (lizard people living underground).
The Empire is counting on you and your team, so choose wisely because Dorikas and his band of monsters, bandits, and misfits in the deep recesses of the caves of Avernum will not let you leave easily. Your only help may be the cave dwellers, but they may try to kill you also so beware of your back.
There are hundreds of artifacts to be found including magical spells and weapons. The blessing magic is useful for hard fights. When in combat you can end a characters turn by clicking on him or pressing the space bar. There are lots of keyboard shortcuts to enhance your play. The world map on the left side of the screen will aid you in your strategy. This game is so large with its epic story line and huge environment to wander and search through the dark cavernous land that it will take you hours of battling foes and finding needed spells and artifacts.
In the beginning you get your sea legs by wandering around the brick passages and exploring the different movements and artifacts to be found there. The movements were quick and fast. The RPG play where you choose your statements affects what happens in the play and changes the story with your choices. You never know what’s right or wrong in this tale.
The fighting in the beginning is a little dull with little action in attacking the stationary enemies but this kind of play is great for anyone new to fighting games.
Avernum 5 is similar to Kivi’s Underworld without the fast paced myriads of attacking zombies in random battles. It has an intense story line, over 50 spells, many unusual encounters with foes and villains. The play to kill the enemies is to click on the bad guys and the movements can be fast and easily handled even for a casual gamer looking to getting into RPG games. Avernum 5 is a good starter game for all those new to the play.
At Org we decided to have our casual gamer, Meg, and experienced player, Trackbum, both try out Avernum 5. Obviously Meg had to read and learn many new things, and she struggled through some of the maneuvering of the soldiers in a straight line. In fact they were running around in circles and was quite funny to watch. It took a while but her soldiers eventually fought courageously through a battle. Meg found the sounds eerie and cave like. She gave the game 3.5 stars.
On the other side of the spectrum, Trackbum sat down without reading anything and knew what to do at every turn. The start of the search was a little boring for him but as the story progressed he got into the play more and more. He knew the sounds were the usual cave noises and was not impressed by them. However he gave Avernum 5 four stars for the battle disciplines and rpg plays.

Burger Shop 2 Review
Aliens sent blueprints and instructions to selected humans to build the Burgertron 2000. You are one of the selected few who managed to make your burger shop prosper and grow. You are living the good life with your chain of shops from coast to coast, so what happened? The last thing you remember is being in a dumpster with a gigantic bump on your head. When you stumble back to your shop, you found it in ruins and a strange little man offering to sell back your own diner for a buck! In your state of confusion you fumble through your pockets and find enough change for $1.
Now you are back on square one and you must start with your first burgertron to get back what was once your burger empire and find out what happened. The play is to see what each customer wants and compiling the requested items 
coming down the conveyor belt. If someone needs a drink you must click on the empty cup, drag it to the dispenser and wait until it is full and either drag it to the customer or right click to deliver. There are 3 meal types to prepare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The different food items can be eggs, bacon, orange juice, waffles, burgers, chicken sandwiches, cokes, drumstick, meat, and lasagna. You are able to select different entrees for the different meals so the same things are not available to the guests at each level.
The customers also are constantly changing from the impatient woman to the slow old man who will need a menu before 
deciding on his order. There are power-ups to calm the clients as they wait, but watch out for the little girl and her dog, they will throw a fit if kept waiting. The location changes as you go up the levels and brings some variety to the play.
I find the game too frustrating to meet the demands of the customers, and the story not engaging enough to find out what the big mystery was all about. Burger Shop 2 is a straight Mac sim play where you click on different food items to combine to make a sandwich, burger or entrée and deliver to your waiting customers. There’s very little variety in play except the food changes for the different meals and the location changes as you acquire more shops. Fans of the first Burger Shop will be happy with Burger Shop 2 in its play and storyline. Give it a try if you are a sim player and find the answers to this crazy dilemma.

Action Ball 2 Review
The title says it all. Mac arcade Action Ball 2 is filled with action packed fun in an outer space themed brick busting shooter play. It has a pinball vibe to it with the different obstacles and bumpers. There are plenty of bonuses falling down for you to collect and use.
The play is your typical breakout arcade game where your space ship moves back and forth at the bottom of the screen shooting the space aliens while breaking the bricks. The great part of this play is the bonuses. There are many to collect. Unfortunately, if you are not fast enough, they will pass you by and you will miss out on some fantastic power ups like bigger paddles in front of the ship to hit the ball back, power ball will destroy some of the obstacles that the regular orb bounced off of, the reflector will not let balls fall, and more. However not all the bonuses are good. One in particular will shrink your ball making it more difficult to hit. Not only are you trying to break up the galactic barriers, but in addition, you must destroy the robotic space vehicles flying around the zone. If you destroy 25 of these
space ships you can earn another life.
A fun mini game and a change up to the breakout plays are the shooting the bricks before they fall to the bottom and collecting the coins to add to the total score. This play will give you a break from the frenzy brick busting.
Action Ball 2 is one awesome and different game. There are breakout plays but with other types of themes like Fizzball (farm setting), Bongo Boogie (monkeys), Fairy Treasure (fantasy) and Bricks of Atlantis (underwater). All are terrific games. Action Ball 2 with an outer space theme has all the lights and whistle you want in an exciting breakout game and more. The blocks situated above your ship are similar to pinball bumps and twirling obstacles. I am a pinball player so I enjoy the similar feel to this game. The levels get increasingly challenging but you can do a do over so everything is not lost. If you are a breakout gamer, you must try this one. Get into your ship and bust those bricks and alien robots. I give Action Ball 2 a 3.5 out 5 for one fast-paced arcade brick buster.

A little Project Runway and a little Rachel Zoe project Weekend Party Fashion Show is an unique hidden object/seek and find and part paper doll dress-up Mac game. On top of all that you get to go shopping in a multi-level mall, do hair and make-up, and work the catwalk. This game is for all the fashion obsessed wannabe wardrobe stylists out there. You all 
have the it factor to choose your own style and clothes, so show off your taste and take credit for your glam or boho look.
Who wouldn’t want to go shopping for clothes and accessories to use in your up and coming fashion show. Lilly is a fashion consultant with a new assignment to hunt for the best clothes, purses and shoes in the trendiest of stores? The 
store clerk will greet you and give you an idea of what kind of things they carry in their shop. Your job is to find all the listed items across the bottom of the screen. Don’t click too much on wrong items or you’ll get a time penalty. If you are completely at a lost, ask the clerk for help. You have 3 helps per store so be very careful.
The mini games are incorporated in earning jewelry, hair and make-up. The jewelry game is a memory play where you flip cards over to match 2. Each match will garner a piece of jewelry. You need these pieces for later to dress up your 
model/celebrity for the party where they will show off everything you picked out. The hair play is to 
choose a fashionable do and with your cursor must cut to match the photo. Make-up is a jigsaw puzzle. With all these side games and the hidden object play you would think it is enough, but wait, the best is yet to come.
After finding all the hidden object items and playing the mini games, you are now ready to dress your star. You begin with the under garments, tops, pants, skirts, or dresses, and finish with the accessories. The accessories include your 
usual belts, shoes, glasses, hats and scarves. This part of the game reminds me of dressing up the paper dolls of years ago. Do they still have them or did they go the way of the dinosaurs? This is still not everything to this innovative game. After you style your client, you get graded on how fashionable you made her. This 
part is like Project Runway when the judges tell you that you are in or you are out. The culmination to all your hard work is the party where a fashion show is the main entertainment.
Surprisingly, I thoroughly enjoyed this game even though I am not a fashionista or mall girl as you can tell from my fashion score. It was a change of pace from the usual hidden object story. The graphics are good and the play quickly passes because you are so into finding clothes and dressing your model. If you have any talent for dressing stars, you can earn thousands a day like Rachel Zoe. So if a fashion svengali job is in your stars, Weekend Party Fashion Show is for you. Have fun with your first successful fashion show.
